Known for his prowess on the piano, Doctor 88 brings a unique perspective to music, a perspective informed by his blindness at birth.
Born into a musical family, he was introduced to music at the age of 2, with his parents singing him to sleep every night. His uncles, mentors, and church community nurtured his passion, making music an inseparable part of his identity.
His high school music teacher and mentor also played a significant role in refining his skills.
His journey became more serious when he started playing in church under the guidance of a mentor, eventually performing in clubs and venues throughout high school.
His musical influences include Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, George Duke, Robert Glasper, Jill Scott, Quincy Jones, and Elton John, whose artistry shaped his love for composition and musical interpretation.
Doctor 88 has performed with groups such as The Knapper Time Band, The BlackSoul Experience, The Barnes, New Direction Gospel Choir, The Brooklyn Drum Collective Ensemble, The New Gospel Temple Band and many others. He is also a music educator, teaching others as well as a songwriter/composer of his own original music.
